Blue Book of Canada (2020) was officially released

On the afternoon of December 11, the press conference for the Annual Report on the Development of Canada (2020), jointly organized by CCS of GDUFS and the Social Sciences Academic Press, was held at the Yilin Hotel in Guangzhou. The Annual Report on the Development of Canada (2020) was organized and compiled by CCS at our university, which is Cultivation Base for Regional and National Studies of the Ministry of Education.

The Annual Reportconsists of 1 general report, 4 sub-reports, and 7 special reports. It provides an in-depth analysis and forecast of the development of Canada's domestic political situation, economic management, foreign affairs, and social policies from 2019 to 2020, focusing on hot issues of the year and key topics in the transitional year of Trudeau’s first to second terms, such as the political situation, foreign policy and social welfare.

He Chuantian, Vice President of our university, said at the press conference that Annual Report on the Development of Canada (2020) was CCS’ seventh Blue Book that systematically analyzed the national conditions of Canada. On behalf of the university and this book’s editorial committee, he expressedsincere thanksto relevant departments and units that cared about and supported the compilation ofBlue Bookson Canada, to experts and scholars who participated in the writing ofAnnual Reports on the Development of Canada, to the Social Sciences Academic Press, which attached great importance to and strongly supported their publication, and to various news media friends who paid attention tobooks.

Cai Jihui, deputy editor-in-chief of the Social Sciences Academic Press, pointed out that the Blue Books of Canada have ranked among the top ten in the domestic Blue Book rankings in recent three years. They are problem-oriented and analyze Canada’s annual development and future trends from different fields such as politics, economy, diplomacy and society. They are characterized by rich content, detailed data, empirical demonstration, high applicability and analysis of the frontier.

Mark Vcislo, consul of the Canadian Consulate General in Guangzhou, congratulated CCS on the publication of the CanadaBlue Book 2020. He pointed out that CCS has played an important role in the exchanges between China and Canada. He hoped that with the release of the latest blue book, Chinese scholars could further strengthen the study of Canada and Canada-China relations, and promote the friendly development of the bilateral relations.

Qian Hao, director of the Center for Canadian Studies of Shanghai International Studies University and president of the Canadian Studies Association in China, sent a video to congratulate the release of the book. She pointed out that after seven years of polishing,Blue Books have become the authoritative reports on China’s Canadian Studies, which fully demonstrate the solid academic ability and spirit of contribution of the CCS team at GDUFS. She believes that this book will provide the latest reference texts and intellectual support for Chinese scholars, policy makers, think tank experts and readers who follow China-Canada relations and the situation in Canada.

At the press conference, Tang Xiaosong, editor-in-chief of the Blue Book of Canada: Annual Report on the Development of Canada (2020), gave a brief introduction to the content of the book. Experts and scholars from Ji'nan University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, Guangdong University of Technology, Shanghai International Studies University, Huawei, and GDUFS attended the meeting.
