April 7th, 2017--The Consul of Canada in Guangzhou, Bernard Nguyen, in charge of politics, economy and public affairs, visited CCS of GDUFS in the company of the Cultural Affairs Officer, Han Pingping, to discuss the topic design and writing process of the Blue Book of Canada 2017 and introduce the celebrations of Canada's 150 years. The director of CCS, Professor Xiaosong Tang and all the CCS staff attended the meeting.
Director Tang talked about topic design, the contributing authors and the all the work behind the Blue Book of Canada 2017. The Blue Book of Canada encompasses 13 chapters, wherein 6 chapters are written by both full-time and adjunct researchers of CCS and writers of the other 7 chapters come from other universities and institutes, both domestic and abroad, such as Carleton University in Canada, Wheelock College in the United States, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, etc. In particular, staff of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, which is the biggest and most renowned think tank in Canada, and the China-Canada Association ( South China District) also participated in writing. All the papers of Blue Book of Canada 2017 are supposed to be received before May 20th and released at the ACSC 17th Biennial Conference, which will be held in Kunming this coming September.
CCS staff expressed their wish to acquire more research data about Canada, to get to know more websites for data and to meet with experts, scholars and government staff. Consul Nguyen said he would like to offer support and recommended appropriate personnel according to the list drafted by CCS.
July 1st this year commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, and the consulate will organize celebrations and invite CCS staff to participate. CCS also will invite consulate staff to Kunming to attend the ACSC Biennial Conference and Blue Book press release.
