Nov. 16th, 2015 -On November 13th, 2015, Professor Wang Jianwei, Director of the Department
of Government and Public Administration at the University of Macau, visited CCS to deliver a
lecture on recent developments in Sino-US relations. The lecture was hosted by Professor
Xiaosong Tang, the CCS Director. All the CCS staff members and students attended the event.
Professor Wang Jianwei made a comprehensive and thorough analysis of current
developments in Sino-USrelations,focusing on a series of issues including a new framework
for Sino-US relations, new characteristics in Chinese and American foreign policies, regional
competition and global cooperation, as well as China's new approaches in handling its
relationships with the United States. He concluded that despite some setbacks and uncertainties,
the relationship between China and the United States would remain cooperative on a global
scale, though strategic competition has become a new trend in regional affairs.
After the lecture, Professor Jianwei Wang answered a series of questions asked by students
and researchers attending the lecture. Productive and enthusiastic discussions were conducted
on various issues of importance, such as the effect of domestic policy on international
relationships, and the Belt and Road initiative. Two volumes of the Blue Book of Canada
(Annual Report on the Development of Canada, 2014 & 2015) were given to Professor Wang
Jianwei by Professor Xiaosong Tang on behalf of CCS.
Lecture participants
